Nursery

A Foundation for Lifelong Learning

In Nursery, children take their first big step into a more structured learning environment while still enjoying the freedom of play. At this stage (ages 3–4), they build confidence in speaking, making friends, and exploring the world around them. Days are filled with songs, stories, art, outdoor play, and hands-on activities that spark curiosity. Every moment — from circle time to outdoor activities — is an opportunity for learning through joy and discovery.

A Blend of EYFS and leading educational philosophies

At Upward, we follow the EYFS framework, focusing on the Prime Areas of learning — communication and language, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional development — while introducing Specific Areas like literacy, problem solving, maths, and understanding the world.  Reggio-Waldorf approaches channels children’s growing independence and eagerness to learn into purposeful play and meaningful exploration.  We weave storytelling, art, music, and nature experiences into the daily rhythm, while encouraging them to ask questions, share ideas, and work together. Teachers act as gentle guides, offering the right balance of structure and freedom so children feel confident to try new things, solve problems, and express themselves in creative ways.

Learning Through Play and Care

In our Nursery, children learn at their own pace in a safe, caring, and inspiring environment. They paint, sing, build, and pretend-play, all while developing the skills they’ll need for K1. The balance of structured activities and free exploration helps them grow into confident, independent, and happy learners — ready for the next step in their educational journey.

Enriching Every Step

We believe in going beyond the basics to offer children experiences that inspire, challenge, and excite them. Our curriculum includes Gymnastics for physical agility, Singing and Music helps nurture creativity, rhythm, and self-expression.  This combination not only boosts confidence but also ensures children develop a diverse set of abilities from an early age.
