Ready for the Next Big Step
K2 (ages 5–6) is the final stage of the kindergarten journey, preparing children for the transition to primary school. They develop fluency in reading, confidence in writing, and strong number skills, alongside science, cultural awareness, and creative expression. By now, children work well independently and in groups, showing resilience, empathy, and self-control.
A Blend of EYFS and leading educational philosophies
At Upward, our K2 program prepares children for a smooth transition to primary school while keeping the joy of learning at the heart of every day. Following the EYFS framework, we strengthen core skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and inquiry-based understanding of the world, while continuing to nurture the Prime Areas of communication, physical development, and emotional well-being. The Reggio-Waldorf approach inspires purposeful projects, creative expression, and outdoor learning, allowing children to explore big ideas and take ownership of their learning. Teachers provide the right blend of structure and independence, fostering confidence, responsibility, and a love for discovery that equips them for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Ready for the Big Leap
In our K2 program, children refine their reading, writing, and math skills while deepening their understanding of the world around them. They engage in hands-on projects, group discussions, and creative problem-solving that spark critical thinking and collaboration. With growing confidence, independence, and curiosity, they are well-prepared — academically, socially, and emotionally — for the exciting transition to primary school.
